The keynote session is over now and I am impressed. First, IBM has apparently made tremendous gains in the world-wide computing marketplace as they have discovered that there are over 300 million named users in the portals of just their top 15 customers. They further conclude that 1/6th of all internet users interact with websites that use WebSphere Portal in some way. Normally I'm not impressed with these kinds of statistics, but wow, that's pretty amazing. From time to time I use commercial websites that look like they might be Portal apps, but I never expected it to be so
pervasive world-wide. That's impressive.
Something else I really liked was that Larry's presentation included one entire slide dedicated to WebSphere Portlet Factory. I often find this product under-promoted at conferences so it was very pleasing to me to see IBM including it in the opening session.
Now, on to Booth #1. Please come by and see us to learn what we're doing with Portlet Factory, to get a look at our Top Gun Application Development course for Portlet Factory, and to get a sneak peak at our chart builder that uses a Flash-based charting engine to replace WebCharts in Portlet Factory implementations.
