Lately we have been having a lot of conversations around information management. The topic is broad and of significant strategic importance because it goes far beyond the technology of data storage. My brother, the "Information Scientist" proclaims that there is more to the task than technical implementation there is the question of structure. Executives used to say, "We know what we know but we don't know where we put it?" Now, if they are honest, they say "We not only don't know where we put what we know, we don't ' know what we know."
Enter Omnifind. This tool is a versatile and voracious facility for locating information in such a way that users uncover both 'existing' and 'new' knowledge. I like to think of it as the information technology equivalent of an omnivore. For an excellent introduction to the technology check out this link: eLearning
(you will need to register). For an understanding of 'how' and 'why' contact me, and I will put you in touch with the Omnifind member of my family.
